Fabrication of flexible Inkjet-printed copper electrowetting valve

We demonstrate inkjet-printed and intense pulsed light(IPL) sintering method to fabricate flexible copper electrowetting valve on porous PET substrate. The fabrication process of printing and photonic sintering can be reduced to a few minutes and is fully roll-to-roll compatible. Depending on electrowetting on dielectrics(EWOD), we can actuate the valve within a second by applying a voltage, which altered the fluorinated monolayer on the hydrophobic electrode.The valve can achieve the control of fluid flow, thus can have a variety of usages in biomedical applications.
